Hey everyone, how are you?
I am writing again, slowly and bit by bit it is coming together.
Writing is not something that always comes easy to me because of my dyslexia. But add into it my health conditions that flared up last week, it can be harder to get back into the groove of writing. And also, writing academically, is something that I have not done for a number of years, so, it is hard to get back into that mindset. But I was able to start writing again yesterday and even though it was not much, it was better than nothing. I am focusing still on the book chapter and I am slowly getting to my two thousand word limit. I have over the weeks been reading and highlighting journals and making notes on how I can reference them in my own writing. As well as analysing them, to help back up my narrative. It is something that I enjoy and reminds me of my student days. But like I said, that was years ago.
I will be aiming to get more of the chapter drafted today and I want to get a bit more written than I did yesterday. As I want to build up my confidence and concentration again. It can be hard but I know that once I get it done I know that it will be worth it. And that it will give me a good boost. I am not going to make myself write for hours and hours without a break. But allow myself small amounts of time, then take a break and then go back to it. As I know that it will be more productive. It also gives me a chance to rest and think about what I am writing. I am a very reflective person, so, when I am not writing I am mulling things over in my head. So, I am able to reflect on what I have written and think where the writing needs to go next.
I also want to read some more today as well and that is reading for pleasure. I am reading two non-fiction books on very different topics. One is an autobiography and the other is a self-help book that was recommended to me by my doctor. Both books are interesting and I am enjoying reading them. But they are both very long, so, it is going to take me a while to finish them. Because of my dyslexia my reading speed is slightly lower than average, but I do not let it stop me. I also want to have a good chunk of the self-help book read before Wednesday as that is when my doctor is calling again to check in on how I am doing after last week. I usually read when I go to bed and first thing in the morning at the moment. Sometimes I will read in the afternoon, but that is rare.
Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a good day.
