Hard To Put Down

Hey everyone, how are you?

I have been reading “Catching Fire” by Suzanne Collins and enjoying it more than “The Hunger Games.”

Reading

When I first read “The Hunger Games” I read purely because a friend recommended it to me. I thought it was okay, but not a book that I would read again. However, over the couple of weeks since I read it I found myself thinking about it and how the two following books would carry on the story. So, I ordered the second book “Catching Fire” and to my surprise I am really enjoying it. I only started it Friday night and am already coming up to half way through. I think I am enjoying it more than the first book. It’s something that has really caught me off guard. I am finding that whenever I do put the book down, I want to pick it back up again and read more. Even though I am an avid reader, this is not something that happens often. I think the last book that did this to me was “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas.

Another thing that the book is doing, is making me want to pick up a pen and write. And that is what I have been doing yesterday and will do more of today. For me, writing can be a very emotional experience, as I always pour part of myself into each piece of writing. And when I am finished with either the story or the poem, I feel drained. It’s a good feeling of being drained though as I know that I have created something unique and different. I think that it is one of the reasons that I love writing. Even if the writing is non-fiction as well. For example, the book chapter that I am writing currently, it is something that is very personal and on a topic that is close to my heart. And even though the topics that I write about will be written by others as well, it will not be written in the same way.

Rest Of The Weekend

For the rest of the weekend, I will be drumming, or at least trying to. The previous couple of practices have not gone according to plan. I didn’t practice for a few days so I need to get back into it and hopefully it will pick up again. It can be discouraging when things do not go to plan but you just have to push through until you get it right. Which is something that I need to remind myself of each day. I will also be watching some drumming videos to help improve my technique and learn some new things. I am enjoying this weekend and I hope that it is a sign of a good week to come.

Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a good day.

Annette
